Em relação às normas KW e DRIS, assim como suas faixas de suficiência, também foi demonstrado que devem ser usadas as específicas para cada espécie/hibrido.; Argentina has approximately 1 200 000 ha planted with fast-growing forest species, among which Pinus and Eucalyptus genera stand out. With 473 983 ha Corrientes is the province that holds the largest area of this type of forests in the country, with approximately 70% Pinus and 30% Eucalyptus. There is a lack of research concerning forest nutrition in this province, and at the same time the area with planted forest is growing, mainly on low fertility soils. The lack of knowledge concerning this aspect may affect forest production sustainability. The aims of this research, for Pinus and Eucalyptus in Corrientes – Argentina, were: a) parameterize and calibrate the 3-PG echophysiological model, b) evaluate the performance of 3-PG parameterizations, c) develop a logic that will allow to integrate thinning in to 3-PG looking forward to estimate diameter distribution at each thinning age, d) adjust biomass production and nutrient content equations, as functions of diameter at breast height (dbh) in order to calibrate nutritional balance models, e) obtain recovery rates for chemical extractors (RR ext ) for soils of Corrientes, f) generate Kenworthy (KW) and DRIS standards, and their sufficient ranges. Field work was done in Corrientes during 35 continuous days. In this stage 93 trees were cubed and above ground and litter sampling was done in: Eucalyptus grandis (both seminal and clonal), Pinus taeda and a hybrid pine (Pinus elliottii var. elliottii x Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis) in different forest sites distributed in five companies located in different regions of the province. In each region, trees of one or more species were sampled, following chronosequences and considering three diametric classes (upper, middle and lower). Soil was sampled up to 1 m of depth at each forest site. Macro and micronutrients were quantified in leaf, branch, wood, bark and litter samples; and specific leaf area was determined. Complete routine and physical soil analyzes were made. Allometric equations were adjusted for 3- PG parametrizations. β and γ parameters of Weibull function were estimated considering quadratic mean diameter as well as minimum and maximum diameters. This function was used in the diametric distribution model (DDM) coupled to the 3-PG. Biomass production and nutrient content equations as functions of dbh, together with nutrient allocation to root data and plant recovery rates allowed us to estimate nutrient requirements. In order to estimate soil supply, RR ext of P, K, Ca and Mg were obtained using several chemical extractors and soils of Corrientes. KW and DRIS standards were generated from reference population contents, to evaluate nutritional balance and equilibrium of forest plantations. The four 3-PG parameterizations provided good estimates of growth variables and, when compared with others, were more accurate than existing ones for E. grandis (clonal) and P. taeda. Diameter distribution was estimated at each thinning age using the DDM, and this allowed to determine how many trees per diametric class should be removed at each thinning age. With the remaining trees, and estimating input variables, it was possible to run 3-PG model for successive periods within the forest rotation. Simply using dbh it was possible to adjust models that generated good estimates of biomass and nutrient contents. It is recommended to use equations adjusted specifically for each species / hybrid to calculate nutrient demand. In relation to KW and DRIS standards, as well as their sufficient ranges, it has also been demonstrated that the specific standards and sufficient ranges for each species / hybrid should be used.

; The quantitative evaluation of pedologícal and hydric resources is important for adoption of sustainable and efficient practices and use management of resources. Climatologic and pedologícal data are usually collected in a discret manner and in most of the cases, the number of sites where the information is collected is usually not enough to fuel the predictive models. To overcome the shortage and spatial discontinuity of soil and water information models have been used to estimate certain properties and attributes, from other more readily available. Predictive models employ a variety of techniques and methods for generating information in discrete and continuous format. This study aimed to generate pedotranfer fuction for estimating soil bulk density and soil water content and evaluate the spatíal prediction of soil attributes and hydric balance in the rio doce basin, located in the state of minas gerais. In chapter 1, we evaluated the spatial prediction of soil attributesz organic carbon, clay and cation exchange capacity (cec), with the purpose of evaluating the performance of the prediction models from soil maps generated by both the conventional and with the multinomial logistic regression methods, from a set of covariates consisting of maps derived from elevation model of the terrain, satellite images and maps obtained from conventional soil mapping the geostatistical model called regression-kriging (rk) was evaluated for prediction of the spatial attributes. In chapter 2, we modeled the basin water recharge process for a períod of two hydrologícal years (09/2007 - 09/2009). Hydric balance was calculated by means ptfs results obtained in this study with those compiled in the literature were performed. The results of chapter 1 evidenced the importance of the conventional soil map when developing digital soil mapping. There is a need to increase the sampling size for clay and cec, and to evaluate the covariates of higher correlation with these two attríbutes, in order to improve the performance of the spatial prediction models. Organic carbon was predicted wíth good performance by all evaluated models, presenting the best results when using the dataset that included the soil map obtained from the conventional method of survey combined with other covariates. The estimate and spatial prediction of hydric balance performed in chapter 2 enabled better understanding of the recharge of the unconfined aquifer in the basin and the generated scenarios can be utilized in zoning the basin for use and management of its soils and water resources. In chapter 3, we found good predictive power of the ptfs developed with the data collected in the basin; we also observed improved performance in relation to the functions compiled from the literature. The information generated with the developed ptfs are rarely found in current literature body and are of great importance as input variables for environment modelling studies, and can be used to fuel models of spatial prediction. in general the contributíon of this study is generating soil and hidric ínformation for the basin that enable to carry on climate change related studies from measurements of soil carbon stock, water availability and spatial distríbution of its attributes and soil classes.

Assim, a aplicação satisfatória do SWAT na BHRSB possibilita a elaboração de um plano de gestão para a área, minimizando os impactos atuais e futuros.; The quantitative evaluation of water and soil losses by erosion is essential for the efficient environmental management of natural resources at watershed scale. Estimates of these data have been carried out worldwide, using empirical or conceptual models, making it possible to obtain information about an area quickly and inexpensively. Besides an economic scenario development, environmental models, coupled with geographic information systems, contributes to locate critical areas, providing indications for emergency operations to contain or control erosion at an advanced stage, and the simulation of future scenarios. Among these models, stands out SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool), the model used in this research. It have been used and tested in different parts of the world, with satisfactory results to predict the impact of changes in land use, soil type and management. This study was performed in the São Bartolomeu Stream Watershed, in Brazil, where 10 plots were installed to monitor the surface runoff and soil losses under natural rainfall conditions. This area suffers from the absence of quantitative studies and comparisons of this kind in the region. Even in Brazil, the number of searches on this subject is small. The Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient was used to evaluate the model performance. The values of 0.953 obtained for sediment yield and 0.999 obtained for runoff represent well-calibrated models. From the calibrated and validated proceeded to the analysis of watershed discretization, which concluded that for the study area, greater or lesser subdivision does not influence the results simulated by the model. Additionally scenarios were simulated use and future climate changes, based on IPCC’s forecasts. All scenarios showed great sensitivity to changes in the watershed. Thus, the satisfactory implementation of the SWAT enables a management plan for the area, minimizing the current and future impacts.
