Os extratos vegetais de melão-de-são-caetano e alamanda reduziram a incidência de fungos e aumentaram o percentual de germinação das sementes de P. nitens.; The demand for tree seeds for reforestation and other purposes may constitute a means of spreading pathogens that may affect the physiological quality of seeds. In this study, we evaluated the effect of natural extracts of Momordica charantia and Allamanda blanchetti on the mycoflora and physiology of Pterogyne nitens seeds. The following phytosanitary treatments were evaluated: control (untreated seeds); fungicide Captan® (240g/100kg), and extracts of Momordica charantia and Allamanda blanchetti at concentrations of 10, 100, 500 and 1000 ppm. Germination percentage, first counting, and germination rate index (GRI) were assessed in the germination test. The plant extracts of Momordica charantia and Allamanda blanchetti reduced the incidence of fungi and increased the germination percentage of P. nitens seeds.

The interest in the cultivation of teak for timber production can be demonstrated by the increase in planted area. However, studies on the development of teak are still scarce, especially in the state of Mato Grosso, where this cultivation presents a high prospect of financial return. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the quantitative and qualitative development of teak until ten years of age in the municipality of Nossa Senhora do Livramento, Mato Grosso state, Brazil. In an area divided in 73 permanent plots, we obtained the values of density, diameter at 1.3 m above the ground, total and dominant height, basal area, total volume, current annual and mean annual increments, and adjustment to regression models. We also assessed the frequency regarding the form or quality of stem and the phytosanitary status. The teak plantation studied presented quantitative development similar to or greater than those found in Asia, Africa, and South and Central Americas. The execution of thinning and pruning were the main causes of teak cultivation quality improvement.

They are influenced by forest cover and other biotic and abiotic factors. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the composition and diversity of AMF in the soil under three different forest covers in the municipality of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia state. The planting of Madeira nova showed greater abundance of spores then the planting of Eucalyptus. The Native Forest fragment showed a larger number of species when compared with plantations, with six unique species of the area studied, with potential to develop even greater diversity. AMF presented significant differences in composition and diversity in the forest covers assessed. The great abundance of spores and the homogeneity of sample species in the planting of Madeira nova are facilitating factors for further isolation of AMF.

In this study, we evaluated the stock of accumulated litter and its ex situ water retention by the Blow method in similar locations, at 4 levels of forest restoration spontaneously developed from the species Clidemia urceolata DC. in the following environments: abandoned pasture (S1), farmyard (S2), brushwood (S3), and forest fragment (S4). A sampler (0.25 × 0.25 × 0.05 m) was randomly prepared in 12 samples per treatment during the dry period. The largest stock of accumulated litter was observed in S4 (5.15 Mg ha –1 ) and the greatest water retention levels were found in S2 (343.87%) and S3 (339,94%), demonstrating that biomass and species diversity influence production but do not affect the responses of litter water, whose greater retention levels are related to the presence of deciduous material from facilitative species in the poorly evolved phases and to lower retention levels in the more advanced stages (30 years of restoration), increasing soil moisture contents.
