The objectives of this work were to characterize seasonal dynamics of cerrado, deciduous and semideciduous forests in the north of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Time series of NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index) derived from MODIS sensor, were compared by analyzing temporal profiles and image classification results. The results showed that: (1) there is an agreement between vegetation indexes and the monthly precipitation pattern; (2) deciduous forest showed the lowest values and the highest variation; (3) cerrado and the semideciduous forest presented higher values and lower variation; (4) based on the classification accuracies the best vegetation index for mapping the vegetation classes in the study area was the NDVI, however both indexes might be used to assess the vegetation seasonal dynamic; and (5) further research need to be carried out exploring the use of feature extractions algorithms to improve classification accuracy of cerrado, semideciduous and deciduos forests in Minas Gerais, Brazil.; O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar a dinâmica sazonal do cerrado, floresta estacional semidecidual e decidual no norte do estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil.

The work aimed to study the development of Tabebuia chrysotricha Standl. seedlings in function of different substrate and different fertilization solutions. To compose the substrate it was used fibrous and granulated coconut fiber obtaining the following treatments: S1- 100% fibrous, S2- 60% fibrous and 40% granulated, S3- 40% fibrous and 60% granulated and S4- 100% granulated. The basis fertilization was the same for all treatments and the solutions of fertilization varied in order to obtain solutions with the following electric conductivities: EC1- 1.06 dS m - 1, EC2- 2.12 dS m - 1, EC3- 3.2 dS m - 1 and EC4- 4.25 dS m - 1. The propagative material was sowed directly in plastic containers (120mL) with the respective substrates. The fertilization was received through sub irrigation once a week, until the seedlings reached 20cm of height approximately. The chemical analyses of the substrate (EC and pH), through aqueous extraction method 1:1.5 (1 substrate: 1.5 deionized water), the analyses of aerial part height, stem diameter and pairs true leaves number, as well as the weight of total dry matter, were accomplished each 15 days. In almost every analysis, the substrate with granulated coconut fiber, as well as the smallest EC (1.06 e 2.12 dS m - 1) of fertilization solutions, formed seedlings with higher averages, indicating faster growth. In the conditions of this experiment, the production of T. chrysotricha seedlings was better in granulated coconut fiber substrate and fertilizer solutions with EC of 1.06 dS m - 1, appreciating the estimated characteristics.

This study was conducted in three joineries on the South of Espírito Santo State, to analyze the weight lifted by workers during joineries operations and to compare it with the weight limits recommended by National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The moving of timber pieces was done manually. Data on weight handling were obtained by an accuracy scale. The vertical and horizontal distances between load and body, the asymmetric angles and vertical displacements were obtained by direct measurement. The lifting frequencies were analyzed throughout studies of time and movement, using a time series analysis and handling difficult of evaluated loads through flow. According to the results, the highest load handling by workers were in the cutter and buzzy saw machines, and was above the recommended weight limits, rendering this way of work inadequate to man.

This study had the following objectives: to induce and describe symptoms of deficiency of boron (B), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo) and zinc (Zn), determining the effect on the mineral composition of leaves. The experiment was developed in a green house and used diagnosis technique by subtraction. The experimental design usedn was a randomized blocks, with seven treatments and three replicates. It was verified that micronutrient omission led to morphological alterations which, in turn, caused visual symptoms. The symptoms caused by the omission of Cu, Mn and Zn were the first to appear, and were followed by those of B, Fe and Mo. The omission of B, Mn and Zn was responsible for the more pronounced reduction in height and stem diameter.
