Crescimento diamétrico da Araucaria columnaris Forster Hooker em Santa Maria - RS

Abstract

A Araucaria columnaris Forster & Hooker é uma espécie cultivada como árvore ornamental no sul do Brasil, não havendo ínformações sobre o seu crescímento e de sua utílízação em reflorestamentos. Sua copa estreita e longa propicia o crescimento em espaços reduzidos o que é de interesse em plantios comercíaís. A avaliação do crescimento diamétrico realizada pela análise de tronco, a partir de uma fatía transversal, permítiu determínar que o íncremento corrente anual culminou aos 21 anos com 1,41 cm e, o incremento médío anual aos 31 anos com 1,18 cm, demonstrando o bom potencial de crescímento da espécíe. A comparação destas taxas de crescímento com a de Pinus elliottii L. e de Araucaria angustifolia Bert. O.Ktze. permitíu caracterizar a Araucaria columnaris Forster & Hooker como a de menor aceleração de crescímento entre as três espécies estudadas.

Araucaria columnaris is a specíe cultívated as ornamental tree in South Brazil, with no ínformatíon available about íts growth and possibilíty of use in forests plantations. Its atrait treetop makes it possible to grow in reduced spacing what is of great interest for commercíal plantations. The evaluation of growth realized through the trunk analysys, using a transversal cut, permited to determinate that the current annual growth culmínated ín the 21st. year with 1,41cm, and, the average annual growth in the 31st. year with 1,18cm, showíng a good potencial of the specíe growth. The comparaison between there results with the ones avaílable for Pinus elliottii L. and Araucaria angustífolia Bert. O. Ktze. permited us to conclude that Araucaria columnaris Forster&Hooker has the lowest decrease in growth between these three species.
