Qualidade fisiológica de sementes de Melanoxylon brauna envelhecidas natural e artificialmente

Abstract

As sementes das diferentes espécies respondem diferentemente aos testes de avaliação de qualidade, o que obriga a procura do que melhor avalie as suas condições fisiológicas. O presente artigo teve por objetivo avaliar o comportamento das sementes de Melanoxylon brauna - Leguminosae-Caesalpinoideae (brauna) no processo de deterioração. As sementes foram envelhecidas naturalmente durante 0, 3, 6, 9 e 12 meses em câmara fria e artificialmente durante 0, 24, 48, 72 e 96 horas em câmara de envelhecimento acelerado. Foram avaliados o índice de velocidade de germinação, a porcentagem de germinação, o tempo médio de germinação, a condutividade elétrica, além do teste de tetrazólio. Os envelhecimentos natural e artificial afetaram de forma semelhante a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de brauna, promovendo redução da viabilidade e do vigor, demonstrado por qualquer um dos métodos empregados.

Seeds of different species respond differently when submitted to quality tests, so it is necessary to search for the best one that matches their physiological conditions. The objective of this study was the evaluation of the tests quality in establishing the degree of decay using a fast and safe method for Melanoxylon brauna (Leguminosae-Caesalpinodeae) seeds. The seeds were naturally aged during 0, 3,6, 9 and 12 months in cold a chamber and artificially in a fast aging chamber during 0, 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours to evaluate possible changes in the physiological quality. Therefore, the germination speed index, the germination percentage, the germination average time, the electric conductivity, and the tetrazolium test were evaluated. The natural and artificial aging affected in a similar manner the physiological quality of the seeds causing reduction of the viability and vigor of the seeds showed by any of the methods.
