Caracterização anatômica quantitativa da madeira de clones de Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh. e Eucalyptus urophylla S.T. Blake

Abstract

Este trabalho teve como objetivo a caracterização anatômica quantitativa da madeira de um clone de Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh., de dez anos, e de dois clones de Eucalyptus urophylla S.T. Blake, um de seis anos e outro de oito anos. Foram estudados: o comprimento, a largura, o diâmetro do lume e espessura da parede das fibras e a freqüência e diâmetro dos vasos, avaliando-lhes o efeito dos fatores clone, tora e distância medula-casca, bem como das interações clone x tora e clone x distância medula-casca. As amostras foram retiradas da prancha diametral, das duas primeiras toras da base de cada uma das 12 árvores (quatro por clone), tomadas de quatro posições eqüidistantes (0, 33, 66 e 100%), no sentido medula-casca. Os resultados mostraram diferenças significativas principalmente para os fatores clone e distância medula-casca, na maioria dos parâmetros avaliados. No sentido medula-casca, observou-se uma tendência de aumento do comprimento e espessura de parede das fibras e diâmetro dos vasos, mas uma tendência de diminuição da freqüência de vasos. Concluiu-se que existe maior variação das dimensões nas fibras do que os vasos da madeira dos clones avaliados, sendo que essa variação foi mais observada no sentido medula-casca em relação às duas primeiras toras.

The objective of this work was the quantitative anatomical characterization of the wood of a clone of Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh. age ten years, and of two clones of Eucalyptus urophylla S. T. Blake, one six years and the other eight years old. The following features were studied: the length, width, lumen diameter and wall thickness of the fibers and the frequency and diameter of the vessels, evaluating the following factors: clone, log and the pith-bark distance, as well as the interactions clone x log and clone x pith-bark distance. The samples were taken from the diametric board, of the two first logs from the base of each of the 12 trees (four per clone), taken from four equidistant positions (0, 33, 66 and 100%), in the pith-bark direction. The results showed significant differences mainly for the clones and pith-bark distance factors, for the majority of the parameters evaluated. In the pith-bark direction, a tendency of an increase on the length and wall thickness of the fibers and of the vessel diameter; but a tendency of a decrease of the frequence of the vessels was observed. It was concluded that there is a greater variation of the fiber dimensions than of the vessels of the wood of the clones evaluated, and that this variation was mainly observed in the pith-bark direction in the first two lower logs.
