Produção de madeira para laminação em povoamentos de Pinus taeda submetidos a diferentes densidades e regimes de desbaste: uma abordagem experimental

Abstract

Este artigo visou avaliar estatisticamente o efeito de diferentes regimes de desbaste e densidades de plantio na produção volumétrica de madeira para laminação em povoamentos de Pinus taeda. Os dados utilizados para este estudo foram provenientes de um plantio experimental, localizado no município de Jaguariaíva, Paraná, de propriedade da empresa PISA Florestal. Cinco espaçamentos de plantio foram comparados: 2,5 x 1,2 m; 2,5 x 2,0 m; 2,5 x 2,8 m; 2,5 x 3,6 m e 2,5 x 4,4 m. Cinco regimes de manejo foram confrontados: corte final aos 15 anos, sem desbaste; corte final aos 20 anos, sem desbaste; desbaste sistemático na 6 a linha aos 9 anos e corte final aos 20 anos; desbastes seletivos por baixo, com redução de 50% do número de árvores aos 9 e 15 anos e corte final aos 20 anos; e desbaste sistemático na 6 a linha combinado com seletivo de 50% aos 9 anos, seletivo de 50% aos 15 anos e corte final aos 20 anos. O experimento fatorial foi analisado através de ANOVA e pelo teste de Tukey. Os resultados demonstraram haver diferenças significativas a 1% entre os espaçamentos e entre os regimes de desbaste, sendo a interação entre ambos também significativa. Para os regimes sem desbastes, detectou-se diferenças expressivas entre os espaçamentos iniciais, havendo maior produção nos povoamentos menos densos. Por outro lado, para os regimes com desbastes, o efeito dos espaçamentos foi praticamente inexistente, com exceção apenas do espaçamento 2,5 x 1,2 m. Nos espaçamentos mais amplos, a diferença entre os regimes de desbaste foi sutil, ao passo que nos mais densos o efeito dos desbastes se mostrou bastante pronunciado. Concluiu-se que a análise estatística permite diagnosticar a combinação ideal de espaçamento com desbaste. No presente caso, qualquer combinação dos espaçamentos 2,5 x 2,8 m; 2,5 x 3,6 m ou 2,5 x 4,4 m, com qualquer regime de desbaste, determina, na prática, os mesmos resultados. Por conseguinte, o regime sem desbaste, apenas com o corte final aos 20 anos, surpreendentemente proporcionou a mesma produção volumétrica para laminação que os com desbastes, podendo ser, assim, considerado interessante, uma vez que é menos oneroso.

This paper evaluates the statistical effects of five different thinning regimes in combination with five initial plant spacing in loblolly pine plantations on the yield of round-wood for veneer. The data came from an experimental plantation located at Fazenda Lageado, Jaguariaíva, Paraná State, in southern Brazil, owned by PISA Pulp and Paper Co.. The plant spacing evaluated were: 2.5 x 1.2 m; 2.5 x 2.0 m; 2.5 x 2.8 m; 2.5 x 3.6 m e 2.5 x 4.4 m. The thinning regimes compared were: a single final cut at age 15 without thinning; a single final cut age 20 without thinning; systematic thinning along the 6th planting line at age 9 and final cut at age 20; selective thinning for below of 50% of the trees in the stand at ages 9 and 15 and final cut at age 20; and systematic cut along the 6th planting line combined with selective thinning at age 9 for below of 50% of the trees in the stand, selective thinning for below of 50% of the trees in the stand at age 15 and final cut at age 20. The factorial experiment was analyzed by means of ANOVA and the test of Tukey. The results revealed significant differences (p<0,01) among the initial plant spacings and the management regimes. The interaction between them was also statistically significant. Regarding only the thinning regimes without thinning, it was noticed remarkable differences among the initial spacings, resulting greater yield figures for the less dense stands. On the other hand, in relation to the regimes with thinning, the effect of initial spacing was very slight, except for the spacing 2.5 x 1.2 m. For the open stands, the difference among thinning regimes was almost negligible, whereas for the dense stands the thinning effect proved remarkable. >From the statistical analysis it was concluded that any combination of the initial larger spacings (2.5 x 2.8 m; 2.5 x 3.6 m; or 2.5 x 4.4 m), with any thinning regime, determines in practice the same round-wood volume yield for veneer purposes. Consequently, the regimes without thinning, with a single final cut at age 20, resulted the same yield as compared to the regimes with one or two thinnings. Therefore, this regime revealed to be interesting once it is generally the least costly among the others evaluated. Key-words: thinning, spacing, simulation, site
