Resumo:
The objective of this paper is to present an analysis of the brazilian system of conservation units, based on published official data. A brief history of the creation of brazilian national parks and other conservation units is presented, legal aspects are studied, and the situation of conservation units between 1978 and 1982 is compared. Problems related with, the management of conservation units are exemplifica with the situation of the “Iguaçú” National Park, one of the most important brazilian parks. To conclude às questioned the existence of a true national policy of nature conservation.
