Comportamento dimensional da madeira de cerne e alburno utilizando-se a metodologia de análise de imagem submetida a diferentes temperaturas

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar o comportamento dimensional de madeira de cerne e alburno submetida a diferentes temperaturas. Avaliaram-se as reduções nas dimensões lineares, seccional e volumétrica da madeira do cerne e alburno de Hymeneae courbaril L submetida às temperaturas finais de 200°, 300°, 400°, 500°, 600°, 700°, 800° e 900°C, em um forno elétrico com taxa média de aquecimento de 1,3°C/minuto. Para a medição das dimensões, realizada antes e após os tratamentos térmicos, utilizou-se um analisador de imagem (Midro-Videomat Zeiss). Obtiveram-se, com base nas leituras individuais realizadas no analisador imagem, as taxas de redução linear longitudinal e trans- versal, seccional longitudinal e transversal e volumétrica. Os resultados mostraram que para 100°C de elevação na temperatura, ocorreu uma taxa de redução média de 2,55% e 4,24%, 5,95% e 7,21% e 8,36% nas dimensões linear longitudinal e transversal, seccional longitudinal e transversal e volumétrica, respectivamente para o cerne. Para o alburno, os valores foram de, respectivamente, 2,64% e 5,02%, 6,70% e 8,17% e 9,15%. Para os dois, materiais a maior taxa de redução nas dimensões ocorreu nas temperaturas entre 300° e 500°C. O cerne apresentou maior resistência à ação da temperatura, porém sua decomposição térmica foi mais pronunciada que a do alburno na faixa de temperatura compreendida entre 200° e 300°C. Este comportamento é semelhante ao da lignina em relação à celulose.

The objective of this work was to verify the dimensional behavior of heartwood wood and sapwood submitted to different temperatures. It was evaluated volumetric, sectional and linear dimension reduction in heartwood and sapwood of Hymeneae courbaril L submitted to final temperatures of 200°, 300°, 400°, 500°, 600°, 700°, 800° and 900°C, in an electric kiln with medium rate of heating of 1.3°C/minute. For the measurement of the dimensions, accomplished before and after the thermal treatments, an image analyzer (Midro-Videomat Zeiss) was used. It was obtained, with base in the individual readings accomplished in the image analyzer, the rates of longitudinal and traverse linear, longitudinal and traverse sectional and volumetric reduction. The results showed that tem- perature increase of 100°C, average reduction rate reached 2.55% and 4.24%, 5.95% and 7.21% and 8.36% in the longitudinal and traverse linear dimensions, longitudinal and traverse sectional and volumetric, respectively, for heartwood. For sapwood the values were, respectively, 2.64% and 5.02%, 6.70% and 8.17% and 9.15%. For both sapwood and heartwood the largest reduction rates occurred in temperatures between 300° and 500°C. The heartwood presented larger resistance to the action of the temperature, however its thermal decomposition was more pronounced than that of sapwood in the temperature range of 200-300°C. This behavior is similar to that of lignin in relation to cellulose.
