The effects of five levels of phosphorus - 3,5 ppm (T1); 7,5 ppm (T2); 15 ppm (T3); 30 ppm (T4) and 46 ppm (T5) - in the growth of “bracatinga” (Mimosa, scabrella Benth.) seedlings was tested. The seedlings were grown iru A2 sand box in the qr'eenhouse. After five months the following variables were measured: total height, diameter of cottar, wet and dry shoot weight, root dry weight, diameter of variables, except for soltar diameter/height ratio. Treatment 4 (30 ppm of P) gave the highest values for total height (39,4 cm), cottar diameter (0,04 cm) and wet and dry shoot weight (16,6 and 4,3 g respectively). Treatment 5 (47 ppm of P) gave the highest values for root weight (1,8 g), coliar diameter/height ratio (0,12), and root/shoot ratio (0,49).
