The aim of this study is to propose information that can help the pedoenvironmental zoning of Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil for the county of Erechim, identifying, with the aid of geoprocessing techniques, the areas with better suitability for implantation of herbals, taking into consideration limiting factors to the culture, involving information of the soil and the environment. The inexistence of studies of this level in the study area is its base, considering that the agriculturists need orientations that can serve of subsidies to the practical of herbal culture, what, undoubtedly, will assist in the propagation of the culture, giving for those involved in this process an alternative of expansion and optimization of the profits in the property. So, the present thesis was structuralized in three studies that complement each other, making it possible to understand the different scenarios that are the sustentation of the objectives considered for this study. Study 1 deal with the space-time evolution of the use of land in Erechim in the years 1964, 1998 and 2008, allowing the identification of expansion areas or retraction of specific uses. In this study, finding areas that had been devastated in the period of settling of the district and that had reached the native herbals in devastation praised for the implantation of projects that aimed to the expansion of the agricultural border in national and state level was prioritized, and whose consequences are found still today. In Study 2, information on the pedoenvironmental characterization of the herb mate are presented, used for the generation of a model of suitability of lands for herb mate culture in Erechim county. It was aimed to identify the necessary pedoenvironmental parameters to properly guarantee the retaken o of herbals implantation, supported by diverse studies on the subject, also searching to establish the ideal conditions for the cultivation of the studied species, considering the indication of suitable areas using computational tools, countersigned by the field work, with the intention of approaching, as much as possible, the ideal biogeographic condition for the culture of herb mate. Also traditional methods of classification with geotechnologies are tested and compared. Study 3 contemplates the suitability of the soil for the cultivation of herb mate under the agriculturists’ view. In this section, it was aimed to establish the correlations deriving from the nomothetic registers, extracted from the speeches of the agriculturists before the pre-established pedoenvironmetal parameters as ideal for the culture of the species, consensus and divergences that had served for the validation one for other. At the end, the considerations that take either the acceptance or not of the initial pressupositions of this study are presented.

<description>Dinâmica da matéria orgânica em agroecossistemas submetidos a queima e manejos dos resíduos culturais; Dynamic of soil organic matter in agroecossistems affected by burning and management of crop residues
Spagnollo, Evandro
The use of fire as pasture management has been object of intense argue, although it has many effects in soil and environment quality. In the ground, the most expressive effect occurs on the organic matter (OM), by combustion, or indirectly acting on the soil fauna. Another consequence of fire is a production of a biologic inactive carbon (BIC), this coal remains in the soil free of the action of the biologic activity. Therefore, this coal is not used as energy, and consequently it didn’t improve soil quality. Another environment negative effect of burning crop residues is the emission of C as CO2 and other gases that causing greenhouse effect. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of the burning in the organic matter dynamic in agroecossistems. The present study was carried out in two sites with natural pastures located in Rio Grande do Sul State, the first one was in Andre da Rocha under a Rhodic Hapludox with approximately hundred years of burning use and another one in Santa Maria under a Arenic Hapludalf. Another site was located in Campos Novos (SC), under a Rhodic Kandiudox where burning was used to management residues of annual crops. The main evaluations were field soil respiration, carbon and total nitrogen, fractionation of the organic matter (&gt; and &lt; 53μm) and aggregate water stability. In the three studies the use of fire affected the total carbon and nitrogen soil content. Even the organic matter associate to the fraction &lt; 53μm was affected by burning.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/10247</link>
<description>Dinâmica do carbono e nitrogênio em Argissolos com plantação de Eucalyptus sp.; Dynamics of carbon and nitrogen in alfisol/ultisol of Eucalyptus sp. plantations
Wink, Charlote
Portanto, sugere-se o desenvolvimento de novos experimentos em longo prazo em plantações de eucalipto de diferentes idades em diferentes profundidades do solo, a fim de inferir sobre o comportamento temporal do carbono e nitrogênio no solo, com base nos processos de migração, degradação, estabilidade e frações desses elementos.; Understanding the dynamics of carbon and nitrogen associated with the physical and chemical properties of the soil are important for conscious planning the use and management of land under cultivation of eucalyptus in order to act positively on the quality of the environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the dynamics of carbon and nitrogen in surface and depth in soils cultivated with Eucalyptus sp., of different ages, in Central Depression and Southeast, Rio Grande do Sul. For this, was evaluated: a) a) through nonparametric and multivariate analyzes, the ratio of total organic carbon and total nitrogen with the physical and chemical properties at the surface and at depth in soils cultivated with Eucalyptus sp., replacing the native grassland; b) the accuracy of the employment Century 4.5 model in simulating the content of total organic carbon and total nitrogen in the 0.0-0.2 m layer of soils cultivated with Eucalyptus sp.; c) the distribution of total organic carbon and of total nitrogen in depth through the negative exponential mathematical model in soils cultivated with Eucalyptus sp. The dynamics of total organic carbon and total nitrogen in Eucalyptus plantations, replacing native grass, is related to the physical and chemical properties, and the use and soil management, recognized by the test nonparametric univariate and multivariate analysis. In surface soil that relationship is expressed by the variables already required at start of the simulation model of the dynamics of soil organic matter (Century Model 4.5). Depth in the profile, this association is more expressive with other properties, such as phosphorus, potassium, pHwater, calcium, magnesium, as well as fine sand, the SMP index and macroporosity. One can also consider, in the background, the coarse sand and clay. In a way this is important in the qualitative assessment of soil, since it makes inferences about the degradation process and the productivity of these soils. The native grassland had the highest similarities in the variations of soil properties in the surface layers, unlike Eucalyptus plantations in that homogeneity is more pronounced in the deeper layers of the profile. The Century Model 4.5 showed a good fit in the simulation of the stock of total organic carbon in the soil and can be used in the simulation of organic matter dynamics in native grassland and Eucalyptus plantations in the different districts. For the stocks of soil total nitrogen, even with the changes of parameters, the Century Model 4.5 could not simulate with acceptable statistical accuracy when compared to the observed data. The content of total organic carbon and total nitrogen in the soil depth of native grassland and Eucalyptus plantations has negative exponential distribution, indicating that the model was able to represent rated this dynamic. However, it should evaluate the quality of the method employed in estimating the rate of decay of these contents, since differences were estimated in the content of total organic carbon and nitrogen along the entire soil profile. Therefore, we suggest the development of new long-term experiments in Eucalyptus plantations of different ages in different soil depths in order to infer the temporal behavior of carbon and nitrogen in soil, based on the processes of migration, degradation, stability and fractions of these elements.
